Dear Malcolm X families:
The Walk-A-Thon is one of the key fundraisers for our school. In 2018 we raised over $20,000 – vital funds in this time of tight school budgets. This MX PTA event helps raise funds for classroom supplies, field trips, library services, drama, dance, and music for all the children at our school.
Please keep an eye on your student’s backpack for a pledge packet coming soon. Students are encouraged to gather sponsors who can pledge either by “lap” or set amount. To earn laps, students come to the MX school yard on the day of the event and walk the perimeter of the school – or they can also dance (there will be a DJ!), read, jump rope, hulahoop, take a fun quiz, or sprint! It is not necessary to stay for the entire 3 hours – kids can come for as long as they can, any time from 10:00am-1:00pm. Prizes for top walkers in each grade!
This is an ALL-VOLUNTEER event. WE NEED YOU to help us make this fun event happen. There are many areas of activities that need adult volunteers – including registration, helping keep time, hole-punching participants’ badges, and many others.

Queridas familias de Malcolm X:
El Ca-mi-na-tón es uno de los eventos de recaudación de fondos más importantes de nuestra escuela. En el año 2018 recaudamos mas de $20,000 – esto es vital en este momento en que el presupuesto de la escuela es corto. Este evento organizado por el PTA de MX ayuda a recaudar fondos para útiles escolares, visitas escolares, servicios de la biblioteca, drama, danza y música para todos los niños en nuestra escuela.
Por favor revisen la mochila de sus estudiantes para que encuentren un paquete para participar en el evento. Los estudiantes pueden buscar patrocinadores que pueden apoyarlos economicamente por cada “vuelta” que realicen o por cualquier cantidad fija. Para juntar “vueltas” los estudiantes se presentan en el patio de MX el dia del evento y caminan alrededor de la escuela, también pueden bailar (habrá un DJ!) leer, brincar la cuerda, hulahoop, tomar una prueba facil, o correr! No es necesario quedarse las 3 horas, pueden venir por el tiempo que quieran, a cualquier hora entre 10:00am-1:00pm. Habrá premios para los que junten más “vueltas” de cada grado!
Este evento es organizado solamente por VOLUNTARIOS. TE NECESITAMOS para lograr que este evento sea divertido. Existen muchas actividades que necesitan adultos voluntarios, incluyendo el registro de los participantes, tomar el tiempo de las actividades, perforar las tarjetas de los participantes y muchas otras cosas mas.
